Simple Idea Every Employer Can Use To Improve Morale
In The Workplace In These Tough Economic Times!
The concept started at a company called
TigerDirect in Miami Florida.
It's very simple, reward your employees and
subordinates. It doesn't have to be bonus
checks, or trips to Europe - in this economy every
cent counts. It's simply a demonstration that
you are all in it together.
At least one Friday a month, show that you think
about your team - buy them McDonald's Apple Pies -
and who doesn't like those? They are not
expensive, they taste great, and you can all take a
five minute Apple Pie Break to acknowledge the end
of another tough week! It also is done at the
beginning of the day Friday, and helps give everyone
just a little bit of extra energy for that last day
of the week.
Try it, you will enjoy the shocked and surprise
looks on the faces of your employees as you hand out
the Apple Pies. You will find it boosts your
workplace morale, and your spirits at the same time.
Sometimes, all it takes is just a little improvement
in attitude to make the difference between success
and failure!
Of course, it doesn't have to be Apple Pies -
muffins, donuts, coffee - they all work, but the
advantage of Apple Pies is they are easy - you just
go through the drive through. (Enjoy the looks
on the McDonald's staff when you ask for 50 apple
pies!!! Though it is best to call ahead to
make sure they have enough for you - ask them for
their phone number the next time you visit.)
But here's the key thing Mr. Employer! Do
it yourself - don't send your secretary, or it
defeats the purpose! Managers as well, even if
your employer doesn't care, you can do it yourself -
make your peers squirm at your improved team spirit!
In the end, it is all about being human, and
showing your people you may have a tough job, but
